| Character: Sophia Napea Theophilia |
Player: Peni Griffin |
| Description: Sofia Napea Theophilia, Senator Sempronius's niece, is a young Orusian
priestess of patrician bearing and carefully correct appearance. She is
of average height, with dark blonde hair, green eyes, and a nose that is
too small. She takes on new responsibilities unhesitatingly and tries to
fullfill all of her obligations - spiritual, professional, familial, and
social - to the best of her ability. Maybe this is why she almost never
looks relaxed. Her amusements are teaching her parrot to talk, reading,
and inventing ways to make her life sound both interesting and safe in her
letters home. Officially hired as her uncle's scribe and assistant to his
family priest, since taking up her post she has found herself involved in
brawls in alleys, calling on unsavory people, chasing mysterious persons
around the countryside, poking through musty ruins, and warning thugs
that assaulting the servants of Orus and Senator Sempronius is not wise.
Someday maybe they'll believe her. |
| Character: Robyn Amanodel |
Player: Damon Griffin |
| Description: Robyn Amanodel (Amanodel means "Moonflower") is a male half-elf, born to
an elvish mother and a human father and raised in his mother's elven
community 1000 miles south of Aquitania. Among the elves, Robyn was
taught various languages, elegant penmanship, and given a basic
introduction to several forms of performance art, with a couple of which
he acquired a little skill. As a matter of ordinary elven upbringing he
learned to climb and swim, plus the arts of stealth and concealment, and
of finding that which is concealed. Elves are less overt and
demonstrative than other races, and once he began moving about in the
wider world, Robyn found that it was comparitively easy to sense the
motives of non-elven beings, and that his own state of mind was not as
transparent to humans and other races as it had always been to the elves
of his own community.
Although the elven community is the only home Robyn knew, he felt somewhat
out of place there for most of his life. The languid pace of elven life
didn't suit him as it did the others, and he was marked because of his
large size -- 5'6" tall and 155#, compared to the average male elf at 5'
tall and 110# -- and his inferior command of the nuances of the languages
spoken by his mother's people. Many of the elves seemed to look on him
with some degree of pity, just because of his half-human status (he was
always called half-human, never half-elf.) Robyn's mother assured him
that half-humans are not all that unusual, but Robyn never knew any
others, at least none anywhere near his own age.
Wanderlust is a condition familiar to elves, so it did not seem odd to
anyone that Robyn should want to leave his forest home, though it may have
taken some of the elves by surprise when so young an individual -- only 22
years old! -- declared himself ready. Robyn's view of the world and his
place in it has shifted dramatically since he left his birthplace. Where
he had long been considered a large boy or man, here he is shorter and
slimmer than average. Where he had often been impatient with the
long-lived elves, these humans seem positively frantic in their haste to
complete a task, reach a destination or achieve some goal. |

| Character: Lucius Trebatius Corvus |
Player: Wayne Loftus |
| Description:
Corvus is a small man, and finely featured: almost birdlike, really. He
talks fast, he thinks fast, he moves fast - he's a born diplomat. Or...
conman, if you like. His clothing is stylish, his hair is cut to the latest
fashion, he is more than passingly handsome and immaculately well put
together. In fact, there are some who find him a little too well put
together. Almost like a TV weatherman or a career politician. He calls
himself a "solver of problems", he keeps late hours, and has a smuggler's
habits. His past is a bit of mystery, as are the circumstances under which
he left the capital, but he comes with a very high recommendation from one
of Sempronius's oldest friends: the word "loyalty" was mentioned several
times. |
| Character: Fergus |
Player: Alvin Ronnfeldt |
| Cause of Death: Fortunately, we have only had one death so far and
it was partially my fault (as DM). It was my first 3E game and I was still learning how the
system worked when I misread the CR rules and sent foes too strong for the party against them.
Anyway, Fergus was fighting a very angry half-orc in an alleyway when he was killed. Of
course, he had started the fight by smashing it over the head, so the half-orc had a some
right to be mad. Then again, he was a kidnapper so he should have expected it. |
| Character: Sir Otto |
Player: Erich Hudson |
| Description: Sir Otto was with us for a while, but left for parts
unknown after his mission was complete (and his player moved away). |
